Band 8 - Management Accountant

Experienced Band 8 - Senior Management Accountants needed for local council contract, in Brisbane CBD until Nov 2026 (with possible extension):

• $80.35ph + super
• Located Brisbane CBD
• Hyrbid work arrangement

Key obligations include:

• Contemporary Accounting Leadership Lead modern accounting practices within established system and governance frameworks.
• Control & Audit Governance Maintain effective internal controls to meet Strategic Finance and Queensland Audit Office standards.
• Stakeholder Influence Engage and influence key stakeholders to ensure the timely flow of critical financial information.
• Asset Accounting Advisory Provide expert technical advice on asset accounting in line with the Customer Service Framework.
• Process Optimisation Identify and lead the implementation of improvements to accounting systems and workflows.
• Performance Management Monitor team KPIs and SLAs, addressing service gaps and reporting outcomes to management.
• Corporate Advocacy Champion organisational values, performance leadership, and zero Harm safety protocols.
• Cross-Collaboration Lead integrated financial reporting to support community value and informed decision-making.
• Framework Design Oversee financial forecasting and reporting frameworks that align with budget and strategy.

You’ll have expert financial and business acumen, a deep understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and a developed ability to build and lead high performing teams. You will possess the following:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, and or CPA qualified is a must
• A strategic and analytical mindset
• Strong project management experience with the ability to monitor, manage and report on delivery against
  milestones and KPIs.
• Highly attuned stakeholder management, including identifying and managing risk
• Experience in developing and reviewing policy and guidance documents for organisational use for accounting related purposes.
